Are you ready for an elephantastic time?
A very special herd of elephants has arrived inΒ Bridport, West Bay, and Lyme Regis! See them until 27th May!
The area has been transformed into vibrant, fun, and free art trail that local families and visitors will never forget. More than thirty large striking and colourful elephants will be waiting to be discovered, each designed and painted by talented artists. The trail will conclude with each sculpture being auctioned for charity. Baby elephants – our Mini Herd – have also found their way into local shops and businesses in the area.
Stampede by the Sea is raising funds for Weldmar Hospicecare, who provide specialist end of life care for local adults with a life limiting illness, and support for their loved ones.

Explore. Discover. Enjoy!
Stampede by the Sea is LIVE! An exciting eight week art trail featuring almost sixty elephants across Bridport, West Bay and Lyme Regis, followed by a Farewell Event exhibition, and concluding with your opportunity to give an elephant a forever home at our Auction.
HOW THE HERD WILL HELP
Last year, 247 people received care from Weldmar Hospicecare in Bridport, West Bay, Lyme Regis and the surrounding area, and more than 1,500 in total across Dorset.
Weldmar’s compassionate approach treats every person as an individual, and their team includes nurses, doctors, carers, therapists, counsellors, social workers and more, who are there during every step of one of life’s most difficult journeys.
All of Weldmar’s care is provided for free. Stampede by the Sea will not only help raise vital funds to continue these services, but increase the awareness of how they help – a subject which is often ‘the elephant in the room’.

SCULPTURE #16: SANCTUARY
Located in pride of place outside the @weldmarhospicecare charity shop on East Street in Bridport, Sanctuary was designed by local artist @nicoladennisart and is sponsored by @mapperton_estate.
Nicola says: "Sanctuary was inspired by the artist`s love of nature and the patterns that it weaves throughout her life. The importance of preserving our natural world has never been greater. By providing new and restoring old habitats we can offer sanctuary to all kinds of life, from the tiniest insects to the largest elephants. The design shows the complexity of nature`s symbiosis."
If you collect Sanctuary on the Stampede by the Sea app, you can take advantage of savings on annual memberships at Mapperton, for an individual, couple, or even the whole a family! Tap in the four digit code you`ll find at Sanctuary to find out how to claim your reward.

WOULD YOU VOLUNTEER WITH US?
We have some amazing people volunteering for Stampede by the Sea. Just as with anything Weldmar Hospicecare does, individuals who give their time play a crucial role in helping things happen.
We have some `Herd Hero` shifts available in Bridport towards the end of the trail. This role involves providing the sculptures with a clean and a little TLC if needed, and reporting any problems or damage. Youβll also answer questions about the trail or Weldmar Hospicecare, or direct people on where to find the answers they need on the app or website. Working in pairs, the shifts are 10am-12pm and 1-3pm.
We`d love to hear from you if you`d be interested in finding out more. Please click the contact button to get in touch.

SCULPTURE #7: THE POWER OF PLANKTON
Located alongside the iconic beach huts in West Bay, The Power of Plankton has been created for Stampede by the Sea by Bridport based artist, Terry Whitworth and is sponsored by @inthebagpr.

They of course share an awesome beauty with one of the Earthβs largest mammals."
Collect The Power of Plankton on the Stampede by the Sea app, and you could win a family ticket to Weymouth Sealife Adventure Park, courtesy of In The Bag PR! Just tap in the four digit code you`ll find at the sculpture, and find details of the reward.
The Power of Plankton will join all of the elephants in our herd at our Farewell Event at Dorchester Corn Exchange this June, and you can bid for it at our Auction on June 19th.
