Some changes during the last few days of Stampede by the Sea

Date published: 8 May 2025

We have been delighted to welcome thousands of visitors to West Dorset during Stampede by the Sea!

If you are planning to take on the trail in the last few days, please be aware of a number of changes.

Trail End Date

The last official date of the trail is now Bank Holiday Monday, 26th May. Unfortunately, an overnight closure of the A35 means that we need to start transporting elephants away from the area earlier in the day on 27th May. We wouldn’t want you to try and find elephants that day, only to be disappointed that they have already gone!

Trail HQ – The Salt House in West Bay

The Salt House in West Bay will be open until Wednesday 21st May. If you are taking part in the trail after that date, you will be able to pick up your maps and a selection of merchandise from the Weldmar Hospicecare charity shops in Bridport and Lyme Regis. If you complete the trail, you will also be able to collect your completers’ certificates there too, as well as your candle for completing the milestone of collecting half of all the elephants.

The Memory Elephant and Pebblefoot

These sculptures are currently located at the Salt House in West Bay. From Thursday 22nd May, Pebblefoot will be found just around the corner, in the reception area of West Bay Holiday Park. The Memory Elephant will sadly not be available to see, as we take it away to have more hand painted names added. You will be able to see the Memory Elephant at the Farewell Event from 14th to 18th June, at the Corn Exchange in Dorchester.

If you have any further questions, please do contact our team.

Don’t forget to get your tickets for our Farewell Event, or register for our auction.

Don’t miss the gathering of the herd!

Book now for our Farewell Event in Dorchester this June – your only chance to see all the sculptures together under one roof
