Waves of Emotion turns heads in Bridport
Did you spot Waves of Emotion in Bridport this week? Our Hero elephant sculpture paid a visit on Wednesday along with Anissa, our Art Programme Coordinator.
It was the first in a series of ‘Meet The Muse’ events, where artists could come along and see the sculpture in a bid to visualise their ideas and designs, and ask any questions they had about the art process.
One interested artist travelled all the way from Bristol to see ‘Waves of Emotion‘, which was designed and painted by Anissa in conjunction with patients and bereaved relatives who attend Weldmar Hospicecare’s Wellbeing Support Sessions.
The visit to Bridport, on the town’s market day, was also a great opportunity to share news about the art trail, which begins next spring.
Anissa said, “Our first Meet the Muse’ was a great success, it was a wonderful opportunity to meet with local (and national artists) who came along, and talk to them about the design submission process and to see the enthusiasm they had to get involved in the trail. Our hero elephant ‘Waves of Emotion’ caused a great stampede of activity from passers-by, with lots of photos taken and interest from children and adults. It gave me a real buzz to be able to introduce Bridport locals and holidaymakers to the elephants and to see the joy that Stampede by the Sea is going to bring to the town next year.”

Stampede by the Sea is a unique opportunity for the local community, schools, the business sector, and artists to come together and create something special. Find out how you and your organisation can get involved.
