Sponsors visit Weldmar’s Inpatient Unit to see how their partnership makes a difference
A number of the sponsors and partners who have already signed up to support Stampede by the Sea recently paid a visit to Weldmar Hospicecare’s Inpatient Unit.
They met our ‘Hero’ sculptures, Waves of Emotion and Ponty, and also took a tour of the hospice facilities and met members of the nursing team to find out more about how the charity provides specialist end of life care for adults in Dorset with a life limiting illness, and supports their loved ones.
Representatives from Hive Beach Cafe, Dorwest Herbs, Amsafe, Saffery, and In The Bag PR were in attendance, and spoke to us about how excited they were to be part of Stampede by the Sea.
Stampede by the Sea has been organised by Weldmar Hospicecare, in partnership with Wild in Art, to raise the profile of the charity in the area, as well as vital funds. With just 17% of running costs being covered by the NHS, Weldmar must raise £27,500 every single day in order to keep it’s services going.
This includes not only the Inpatient Unit, but also community nursing, their hospice at home service, physiotherapy and occupational therapy so that patients can be as independent for as long as possible, complementary therapies to aid wellbeing, plus a range of patient and family support services including counselling and carer support. All of these services are provided for free.
Sponsoring an elephant sculpture means that a business will essentially pay for the running of the Inpatient Unit for 24 hours.
