Elephantastic fun for all the family
From the iconic cliffs at West Bay to the Cobb at Lyme Regis, Stampede by the Sea will feature around fifty elephant sculptures, placed across the area to create a fun and free art trail that will be accessible to all.
A perfect activity for local families, and an engaging attraction for visitors to the area, each elephant will have been designed by a talented artist, and sponsored by a local business. You’ll be able to follow the trail via our mobile app or map.
At the end of the trail, each elephant will be sold at auction to raise vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare, who provide specialist end of life care for local adults with a life limiting illness, and support for their loved ones.
Local schools, youth organisations, and learning venues can also get involved, and have their own Baby Elephant to design and keep.
Throughout the trail, you’ll be able to discover more about the work of Weldmar Hospicecare in the area, and our app will allow you to unlock rewards from our partners and sponsors!

WOW!! More than 700 of you visited the Corn Exchange in Dorchester for the opening two days of our Farewell Event! If you haven`t yet been, there are tickets available for most sessions tomorrow and on Wednesday.
Subject to availability, you will be able to pay on the door, but we recommend booking in advance (link in comments). Just £6 for adults and £3 for children – under 3`s are free.
It was great to see those of you who came along this weekend – and thank you for all the very kind comments about the elephant sculptures, our trail, and Weldmar Hospicecare. It was also nice to hear so much interest in our Charity Auction. This is the elephant that is adorned with hearts in the colours of the uniforms of the wonderful nurses, health professionals, and care givers at @weldmarhospicecare and you can get the name of a loved one hand painted into one of the hearts. After the Farewell Event, the Memory Elephant will have a permanent home at Weldmar`s Inpatient Unit in Dorchester.

During our trail, Crawley was situated in the beautiful gardens above the iconic Lyme Regis Cobb. Crawley features the Downton Abbey family on one side and the downstairs servants on the other as a nod to the different dynamics between the two worlds.
Jina chose to paint some of the show`s most iconic characters and quotes alongside the beauty of Highclere Castle, and hopes it will encourage people to remember their favourite moments in the show. Downton Abbey was, of course, created by Lord Julian Fellowes, who has regularly supported the work of Weldmar Hospicecare.
